DATATAG HOME MARKING SYSTEM TO PROTECT RESIDENTS IN WEST MERCIA

DATATAG HOME MARKING SYSTEM TO PROTECT RESIDENTS IN WEST MERCIA

West Mercia Police are strengthening their rural crime prevention measures through the use of Datatag's Home/Property Marking System.

Paul Crumpton West Mercia Police Rural, Business & Cyber Crime Reduction coordinator has enlisted Datatag to combat theft in Hereford particularly. The Systems which include an array of Datatag’s trusted marking technologies will be deployed in the worst affected areas recognising the increased risk of repeat burglary in areas which have seen recent break ins.

Households in and around affected areas will be offered free systems allowing them to be able to mark valuable and high risk items such as TV's, games consoles, jewellery, laptops and phones with Datatag's forensic DNA solution, Datadots and warning labels. Recipients will also receive window warning signs stating that their property is protected in this way thus further deterring entry.

Datatag have provided street warning signage to help spread the word that these crime prevention measures are being used and will be assisting local officers with support materials so they can engage with residents explaining the technologies and benefits and also UV torches to enable them to identify property marked with Datatag technology.

Datatag’s Dave Luscombe said, 'We have had significant success in reducing crime wherever our Systems have been deployed and we are confident that in using our Home Marking System and the technologies it contains residents will be able to sleep a little easier knowing their valuables are protected.'

Rural Local Policing Inspector Callie Bradley (pictured) said, ‘We are pleased to have the opportunity to distribute these Datatag systems to residents. We are committed to supporting our rural communities in the fight against crime and this initiative will ensure residents are better protected from unwanted criminal activity.’

Inspector Bradley has confirmed that following this initial operation further budget has been made available for more Systems to be provided to local residents.
