LAND-BASED BUSINESSES BENEFIT FROM NEW SECURITY PRODUCT

LAND-BASED BUSINESSES BENEFIT FROM NEW SECURITY PRODUCT

A unique 'fingerprint', which is impossible for thieves to remove, has been freely applied to the tools and equipment of the area's land-based businesses at an event organised by the Sussex and Surrey Coppice Group and hosted by the High Weald Partnership.

The fingerprint is an innovative new security product from Datatag which is designed to protect tools and equipment, including chainsaws and brushcutters. The product includes an ultra-destruct label with a unique identification number which incorporates Datadots® in a UV glue. Even if thieves remove the label the unique ultra violet fingerprint will continue to positively identify the tool.

The event was organised by Sussex and Surrey Coppice Group in recognition of the impact that theft has on the area's wood cutters. The NFU's rural crime survey reports that 62% of Mutual branches have seen an increase in rural crime in their area. The survey reveals increased demand for high priced items that are portable and easy to sell on. The theft of power tools such as chainsaws, electric drills and lawnmowers has topped the most stolen items list, with quad bikes, telescopic handlers and tractors also on the thieves 'shopping list'

In addition to Sussex and Surrey Coppice Group members, representatives from Stihl dealerships and organisations that manage land such as the National Trust and Sussex Wildlife Trust, attended the event which was sponsored by Stihl UK and Datatag.
